Well, that was bound to come up, wasn't it? A Halloween update practically demands this kind of reference, right? But what does this mean for us *Ferraristi*? We considered talking about the "sour" moments—the things that leave a bad taste in our mouths—but then we remembered that it takes all sorts to make a world, and that’s a good thing.

We could certainly share what rubs us the wrong way, but we have to concede that one man's trash is another man's treasure. So, let’s not discuss what we personally consider the Factory’s "greatest lapses in taste." That may be our view, but others among you might see it differently—and that’s perfectly fine. In the end, all Ferraris are equal! Everyone finds one to love...

What does leave a sour taste, however, is the return of a habit we thought had long since faded: the practice of taping over serial numbers and VINs at trade shows and in museums. We truly hope this doesn’t become a trend—because, just like in the early days of "spotting," we have to ask: what’s the point? No Ferrari ever remains unidentified. How could it, with just over 300,000 cars produced over nearly 80 years? Many of the vehicles "graced" with this tape are already well-known, or they possess distinct features that make identification possible anyway. And, to be honest... for us "number crunchers," spotting cars in person is just the "finest cherry on top of the cake." Matthias always says, "I see thousands of Ferraris every year, but only a few hundred are the ones I stand face-to-face with. That’s a wonderful experience—and it’s even better when I’ve managed to identify every single one. So, let me have that satisfying feeling!”

On to the database... We’d call it unspectacular growth—2,531 entries have been processed, with a particular focus on the F355. Have you noticed how the prices for that model are taking off lately? 1,187 of these entries are brand new.

November marks the ramp-up for trade shows and auctions. RM/Sotheby’s is keeping us on our toes, and Gooding & Company/Christie’s are following suit, with events lined up in Geneva and New York. The Motor Show beckons in Essen, Iconic is supporting the Classic Car Show at the NEC, and InterClassics welcomes us back for its annual gathering in Brussels—there’s plenty to keep us busy, and every single entry is a treat...

Happy Halloween!
