The HY-KERS Vettura Laboratorio is displayed at Museo Ferrari and modified
All of you might remember the revolutionary display of the 599 GTB Fiorano with an additional hybrid-drive at the 2010 Geneva Motorshow. The car, #172728, was livered in a matte Green colour that is known today as “Verde HY-Kers” and at least used on two Italia Spiders, one in the UK (#191221, colour named Verde HY-KERS) and one in the US (#188753, colour called Verde Kers Lucido, what is confirmed by having a look at the colour sticker placed under the front hood). Funny enough, both cars have recently been offered for sale by official dealers.
The HY-KERS-development was introduced on March 2nd 2010 and was adopting a technology that once again provided by the Sucderia’s efforts from the Formula 1-tournament. Within F1 HY-KERS is used for “extra-hp” whilst the Vettura Laboratorio –being translated as “experimental vehicle”- uses the additional power to reduce the production of CO2. The car was displayed in a way that allowed the public to have a look at the car’s under-floor and the “battery box” in the trunk. Beside the unusual colour and anticipating the GTO-style roof to come, #172728 just looked like a regular Fiorano.
Michael’s wanderings through Ferrari’s hunting ground resulted in an actual picture of the Vettura Laboratorio, being a part of the current Prototype-exhibition at Museo Ferrari. And the car has changed its visual impression. The regular Fiorano front hood from the Geneva-display has received major upgrades with changed and additional air intakes.
