On our way to making the database the most complete of its kind, we have undertaken another stage of maintenance. We think it has to be. It should not only be the most complete but also the most reliable.
So we spent large parts of September checking the individual digits of the VINs and, where discrepancies arose, correcting them if possible. Of course, it is difficult to do this automatically if, as in very few cases, the vehicle is missing the factory with a digit in the serial number. What are you doing there? It is pointed out that there is something special that belongs to the respective vehicle.
Of course, the review meant that not as many new numbers joined us, but they do not escape from us and we'll be considering them as our next destination very soon. We will also look at what a new type of VIN composition is all about. The VINs of the SUV, which are manufactured for the US market, appear to have been given different leading letters with ZSG instead of ZFF. You know, the first F stands for the manufacturer, the second F for the plans, so for us so far it's always been Maranello and the whole thing has been so far with the exception of a few 308 Dino with UK specs, which actually got a VIN that started with ZDF , i.e. D for Dino instead of F for Ferrari, but ZSG is currently more reminiscent of the change in digits from ZFFLJ65A to ZFF65LJA in 2015, which became standard for everyone from the Italia with model digit 67. It all sounds picky and nerdy, but you know, we take the task seriously.
With that in mind, keep working and thank you for accompanying us so truly!
Yours
F-Register Team
