Is everything happening by coincidence? A fortnight after the first win of a Scuderia driver in a F1-GP, José Froilán González at Silverstone, the next GP is just taking place there where it all began. It was 60 years later that the Scuderia achieved the last British GP victory to date in 2011. The small series of the final 599 GTB production was dedicated to this event, the 599 GTB Fiorano 60F1 Alonso Edition that was either available in the Rosso Scuderia 2011 livery or in Rosso Storico 375 F1, the colour González’ car was livered in when he won the race on July, 14th 1951.
Friday will bear the risk of rain at Silverstone but for the Qualifying sessions and the race dry conditions are predicted. The distance will be 52 laps on the 5,891 km-track what makes a total distance of 306,198 kms. The track was developed over the decades from a former air force airfield, today Becketts, Maggots and Chapel are included in Formula 1’s mythology.
Stefano Domenicali wants the Scuderia to close the gap to Red Bull within the next three races, starting with the Silverstone-race. We will not be able to provide you with the live race-report on Sunday because F-Register’s stuff will attend Italia a Zandvoort this weekend. Hopefully we will return with many new spots, relations and impressions and celebrate a Scuderia victory in the evening.
