What we are currently witnessing in Paris—and across France—is nothing new. Time and again, following political or even sports-related demonstrations, we have seen violence become the chosen course of action. This is, in no way, acceptable. Governments certainly make mistakes, and the rising cost of living is a pressing issue—everywhere. Yet, those truly responsible for such problems often remain unscathed, whether they are busy planning gala balls or ordering the bombardment of civilian populations. Does this justify those who are dissatisfied taking out their frustrations on the property of others, engaging in looting, or causing physical and psychological harm?

Why do we bring this up? Because our friends at Artcurial are based in Paris—in a prominent location, at the end of the Champs-Élysées, which, this coming Sunday, will also lend its name to their latest auction. With further protests announced for Paris this weekend, one has to wonder: will things go smoothly?

We certainly hope so! Artcurial will be showcasing and offering around 60 cars—including nine from our favorite marque—and our sincere wish is that these machines remain objects of desire, rather than targets of blind rage.
