Having managed it to the field finally, the expectations of the Ferraristi came true: There had been a private Concours d’Elegance “Masterpieces & Style” at the Schloß in late June and it seems like the collectors and owners, that tried to force the organization of the Classic Days did win the palm and had something like a closed shop to the detriment of the visitors of the Classic Days. Catching up to Goodwood is a complete different approach, but this drift became more and more obvious through the years. Again, the absence of any Ferrari-activity was notable. If we compare the Classic Days with the Het Loo Concours d’Elegance when both Dutch official dealers, Kroymanns and Munsterhuis, have been present and two of the leading connoisseurs of the brand, Jean-Louis Bezemer and Matthias Bartz, have been member of the jury, the result at Schloß Dyck was poor: one Ferrari entered the Concours, a black Daytona, #13433, the example that was offered at this year’s Techno Classica already and is still for sale.
Thankfully, at the Scuderia Colonia stand, Ferrari Model Club-member Michael Wiertelorz, presented his 250 GT PF Coupé, #1263GT, formerly owned by von Trips. The “Red-on-Tour”-club, flying the Ferrari-flag in the past, managed to be present scattered only this year, due to scheduling problems.
Coys had its German summer-Auction at Schloß Dyck for the first time, skipping the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix a week later. Some Ferraris there, no results published to date what is very common with Coys, we have to say. The 365 GT/4 2+2, formerly of the Collezione Maranello Rosso, was withdrawn before the auction, but being present and advertised to be an upcoming lot for the auction that accompanies the Paris Motorshow in early October.
However, we have been a (little bit) reconciled by watching two F40, parking in the fields on Saturday and every Ferrari being present at the 11th Schloß Dyck Classic Days, all of them shown in our accompanying Slide Show.
See you next year? Quite probably, even we are sad that Het Loo is happening every two years only, it’s probably time to pay Goodwood a visit…
