RM Sothebys gave us an intermediate status on Thursday and Friday with providing their hammered highlights. It is still much too soon to rate the results but the first impression is that estimates have been chosen well and that the market is still basically intact. However it is getting more interessting with every past auction as we know that US-interest rates will rise -probably within the next few months- and that there are doubts about the Chinese economie and currency, both countries are providing the most interessting group of buyers - and it looks like we can happily announce: nothing has changed yet.
As we have said, this is a very early first impression and we are looking forward to get conformation on our thoughts.
However, here are some impressive first results from RM Sothebys:
A fine resulz achieved by the 250 LM gives the car, probably temporarily, a Top Ten position in the ranking of the most valuable cars at auctions.
#6105 was hammered at $17,600,000. The famous "399+1"-Enzo achieved above $6 mil. and the F40 LM was gone at $3,300,000 and the California Spider was sold just below estimate at $8,500,000.
Be sure that we will compile for you all results from Monterey as soon as we have them on hand completely.
