550’s are trying new record (asking price)-levels in the US
When the Maranello was presented on July, 20th 1996 at the 1st Ferrari Racing Days, held on the Nürburgring, Luca di Montezemolo called it ”the modern car”. 2016 the 550 Maranello will celebrate its 20th anniversary and the Racing Days will be held in Germany for the 14th time.

It seemed that the improving market for Ferraris slowed down after the auctions in summer 2015, only the F355-series, starting with the Berlinettas and followed shortly by the GTS made their way to new peaks. Now, it looks like the 550 will catch up. Whilst asking price levels in Europe are still around 90 k€ to 140 k€ with some outliers below and above, the American market seems to try serious attempts to establish an asking price level of 200 k$ (cir. 180 k€) – and we are not talking about low mileage examples.

Reason enough for F-Register to report and to provide you with a small Slide Show of the 550 Maranello, one of next year’s birthday girls.

The earliest of the eight Maranellos presented by Montezemolo at the Ring has been # 104982, a car that was obviously kept by the Factory before it was gifted to Pininfarina and transformed by him into the “Pininfarina Rosso” to celebrate Pininfarina’s 70th anniversary.
