The Scuderia’s 2014 F1-attempt – a review
We rarely say “We’ve had enough”, but, the expired F1-season is one of those events. High hopes accompanied the F14-T through the winter tests, being within reach of Mercedes, far ahead of Red Bull has been the first impression. Australia seemed to be a rumbling start into a season what is quite normal with new rules and new technical requirements. However, the promise was not fulfilled. One podium was achieved when Alonso made it 3rd in China. Being slow, being not competitive are the attributes for the F14-T, but the car was reliable, only two drop outs in 38 starts (Alonso in Monza and Suzuka). Chassis 303 was most probably destroyed when Räikkönen crashed the car in Silverstone. Six times the gap exceeded 1 lap, all of them are connected with Räikkönen.

Beside the 3rd place in China, the drivers achieved three 4th positions, all related to Alonso, six 5th positions, all related to Alonso, 5 6th positions (1 for Alonso) 6 7th positions (ALO 4 times, RAI 2 times), 5 8th positions (2 times RAI, 3 times ALO), all three 9th positions for Räikkönen. Three 10th positions round up the Top 10 positions in 2014. Seven times the drivers did not reach the Top 10 (ALO one time, 6 times for Räikkönen.

4th was the best position in qualifying with the disaster of Silverstone with p19 and p20 on the grid.

2015 will not be an easy year, there is much improvement to be achieved and one year may be too short, but let’s hope that anything will be better than the last.
