The production number is said to be 3,025 units. The number was seen on a dashboard-plate of a US-spec. car. If this is correct, the final car should be #179531. The number of US-spec cars is an interesting low 625 units. Compared with our regular “30 % of the production is US-related”-formula, the US-production could have been expected be more than 1,000 US cars.
However, the 612 –Pininfarina designed the Scaglietti-tribute, currently traded at half MSRP or lower, appeared to be so much bigger than its previous version, the 456 GT and –in our eyes- looks so much more elegant, most probably the most elegant modern four seater. By MY 2009 the F1-transmission was no longer an option. The Scaglietti and the SuperAmerica are the only production cars that have been available with electrochromatic roofs.
Special Cars? Yes, no swan song-production, but the 60 anni celebration model, 612 Sessanta, 60 cars, most of them in bicolore livery and recognizable by an individual badge close to the F1-button. A one off is the 612 Kappa (#145746) of collector Peter Kalikow.
A little Slide Show of Scagliettis is available.
