Fernando Alonso set the second fastest time, shortly a second behind, but it is obviously still the time to understand the car and its set up. Alonso managed to drive 64 laps with a lot of additional stuff added to the car to receive data of the aerodynamics. The Scuderia focussed on Brake-by-Wire and the electronics. Performance tests will are scheduled for the second Bahrain test in a week's time.
Red Bull seems to be still in some kind of trouble. Sebastian Vettel only achieved 14 laps with a further second behind Alonso. Mercedes powered cars still seem to be strong.
