This morning I found an eBay advert about #45235. The only thing F-Register.com did know about the car is that it is a Mondial QV Coupé, showing the VIN ZFFLD14B000045235 what makes it a 1983 production-car. This information came from an advert of a Parisian company that is -amongst others- selling literature like books and manuals.
On August 30th of last year, they asked 1,000 USD for a Brocade pouch that included
- owner's manual 241/82
- owner's warranty and service book 2955/83
- sale and service organization 232/82
- Agip lubricants chart and
- lubricants comparison chart.
It is a fact that car and its paperwork have been separated what is -normally- the worst case scenario for considering a purchase of a car. Furthermore, the separate appearance of the paperwork could well be an indication that the car is no longer or is in defective condition.
To cut Short Story #1 short, #45235 showed up yesterday on American eBay, being offered for sale. The seller added the VIN overnight. Reflecting the -obviously aftermarket- US-sidemarkers, the car must have been imported to the US, reflecting the rust spots on the black side sills, the car must have been stored for some time. Furthermore, the engine does not start and the clutch seems to have faded. The seller is optimistic to solve these issues. The odometer shows 80,000 kms and the car is in the typical livery of Rosso Corsa with Beige.
However, one story is told, two loose parts put together again. If you think that stories like these are exceptional cases just have a look to F-Register.com's database and you will find -especially on many cars of the first 20 years of production- many cases where several parts of cars have been exchanged with those of other cars and that it sometimes –after decades- comes to a reunion of original car and original parts and it is remarkable that a future owner of #45235 has a chance to reunite the car with the original paperwork. The complete history documented by service records may be another task…
