At that time it seemed like the collection would meander through the market. Nearly everybody of known enthusiasm for historic Ferraris or being of certain fame for being a connoisseur of the brand was asked by people with investment background what the true value of the collection would be. What wonder that the experts of F-Register have been adressed as well. It have been the days when prices for Ferraris began its dramatic gallop and 3851GT was finally sold at US $38,115,000. Rumours have it -and that is obviously always the case- that private transaction without any publicity would have exeeded the price achieved by Bonhams by a notable amount. Estimates of 50 to 60 mil. US$ made the rounds but never have been confirmed.
Is it any wonder that Talacrest gives no asking price for 3387GT, the GTO they have on offer currently?
3387GT comes from a long term ownership with Bernard 'Bernie' J. Carl of Washington who owned the car since 1997. The Ferrari had a short but intensive race carreer from 1962 to 1965. All results are -as usual- accessible in F-Register's Sportscar Race Results db.
