The gates at Maranello have been closed since yesterday—it is holiday season in Italy. Perhaps a break isn't a bad thing; after all, certain aspects regarding our favourite brand seemed unplanned, or the market's reaction was perhaps not quite what had been anticipated.
Let’s be honest: since the partnership with Pininfarina ended, the brand has struggled—though it would certainly never admit it—to follow up on its iconic designs. The styling of the Luce by former Apple personnel is the prime example of this. Production of the Luce is slowly ramping up. At one point, the Factory announced a planned total run of 14,000 units. However, upon the release of the half-year results—which exceeded expectations thanks largely to sales of "Tailor Made" and "Atelier" models as well as favourable currency effects—it was reportedly stated that Luce production would be limited to 600 units per year. Furthermore, the order books are said to be full through the end of the 2027 fiscal year, and... one is reminded of Enzo’s famous philosophy: always build one fewer Ferrari than the market demands.
Let’s dive into the figures. The Factory plans to unveil two additional models before the end of the year. We were particularly struck by the newly introduced F171 MM, bearing the model designation "22". It is clear that this involves the 6-cylinder model we currently known as the 296. The first "M" could stand for *Modificato*, but what about the second "M"? Perhaps—analogous to the *12Cilindri*—it signifies a manual transmission? We shall see.
A total of 1,434 new road car serial numbers have been added to the database, alongside 25 additional 296 GT3 Evo units. So far in 2026, we have recorded 9,296 additions to the road car list. Naturally, this pace will hold steady through August; as we head into the final four months of the year, it wouldn't be surprising to see another 5,000-plus new numbers added, bringing the serial number range up to the 348,000 mark.
But now, it’s time to celebrate—there are fireworks tonight!
