The chameleon, lat. Chamaeleō, is best known for its ability to change its colours to fit the environment perfectly. Most of us would agree that chameleons do that to hide from predatory animals. But, that is obviously wrong! A chameleon changes colours to interact with its conspecifics.
From this point of view, the reflection of 175265’s story needs to be written new. #175265 is a US-delivered California that came to its first owner in the following configuration:
175265 10 California Nero/Nero Alcantara Nera seat centres Rosso Stitching LHD US ZFF65LJAXA0175265 Rosso dials Red Calipers
Conservative you would say and everybody would agree. The car showed up in livery for sale on eBay first on November 1st, 2011 by Excell Auto Group Inc. of Boca Raton with 10,125 miles on the odo. Exactly 17 months later 175265 was for sale again by Excell via eBay, now showing 13,380 miles and being offered as a one-owner car. The only thing that had changed was the exterior colour of the car. Obviously, the owner meant to send another message to his co-chameleons and wrapped the car in a satin White foil. He left out the side mirrors and the roof, but included the pillars.
You might have thought, this is it, failed completely. Three days ago, Excell offered the car for the third time, again on eBay –where it still is offered today and if you want to have a look, just search for item # 221256603322-, still showing the same mileage. Again, the colour changed. Another day, another wrap. This time it is P I N K!!! The roof is still in the original Nero livery as are the exterior mirrors and –this time- the pillars as well.
The chart of colour range is still large and we are all on edge what colour will be next and what message will be sent by the seller to the other chameleons.
