It was already in the late 1950s that the Facotry tested an engine of 850cc with four cylinders that was implemented into a Fiat 1200. Autocostruzioni Società per Azioni, shortened ASA, was a combined company of entrepreneur Oronzio De Nora and Ferrari with the agreement that the Ferrari logo was not used in any way. Ferrari agreed to provide the engines -increased to 1032 cc- and technical assistance, the body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro who worked for Bertone and production started in 1963 at Bertone's factory before it was transferred to Ellena. The ventrure faded in the late 1960s and in the early 1970 only a few cars where built finally from the left overs that remained in the factory.
However, the association with Ferrari made the community to nickname the ASA "Ferrarina" - the little Ferrari, no wonder, the 1000GT looks like a shrunk 250 GT/L. The total production is assumed to be 158 examples overall.
The complete ASA-production is sure shown in F-Register's Serial Number database as you may have expected.
Artcurial had four cars on offer: a special version of the 1000GT, the 411 with S/N 1014, two 1000GT (1138 and 1214) and one of the three competiotion Berlinettas RB 613 with S/N 21000. All cars came from the family of the ASA-founder de Nora. Whilst the RB 613 was sold below its estimate at €228,631, the road cars# prices jumped.
#1214, in a barn find-kind condition, was estimated to be sold between 15 000 - 25 000 € and was finally hammered at an incredible price of €54,149!
The 411 exceeded its upper estimaste of 80k€ about 100,000 € and #1138 was sold at €114,315.
The Ferraris in the auction showed to cars that where withdrawn from the auction, the Maranello #132532 and the GTC/4 #17727. We have spotted 17727 by ourselves and could take a glimpse and picture of the Telaio-plate, but there are other documents that show this serial number belonging to a 365 GT/4 2+2 (F101AL*17727*). See the GTC/4-Telaio in the "Picture Box".
Fame drives values, another example, after Alain Delon's Testarossa at Artcurial's previous auction, was the last Ferrari that was ordered by Fritz Schlumpf of the Schlumpf Collection. The Testarossa was hammered at €132,365. Period-coloured #6113 was sold at €174,481, again a car that was sold above the estimate.
"In range" was #1023GT, the elegant 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupe that was shown at Essen's Techno Classica this year. It was sold at €336,930.
