With the car came a bunch of new Factory colours: Grigio FF (similar to Grigio Titanio), Grigio Abu Dhabi (similar to Argento Nürburgring), Bianco Italia (three layer white), Rosso Maranello and Blu America.
How can we describe the FF best? Was it positively welcomed? Well, it seemed to address a totally new group of buyers being something like the worthy successor of the business man’s 400 and the car that fits for the family, the skilid and golfing equipment for weekends and holidays. From the styling –we suppose- the community of Ferraristi was not really convinced. Comparison to the BMW Z3 Coupé was going round and the massive elegance of the 612 Scaglietti seemed to be missed. The FF is Ferrari’s first works-shooting break.
Technically the car is an innovative step without any doubt. 12 cylinder front-mounted engine with 660 hp produced by 6,3 litres cylinder displacement providing a Vmax of 335 km/h, a F1-transmission that has become fully developed over the years since being introduced on the 355 series. The four-wheel drive is called 4RM and it is said to be a further development of the 4RM-system that was first used in 1987 on the two Laboratorio-cars #70183 and #78610 in 1988.
The 612-option of the electrochromatic roof has been replaced by a panoramic roof and a new interior option is a kind of piping to seats made of Alcantara.
Special editions? Well, luxury department store Neiman Marcus offered 10 FF in their Christmas catalogue of 2011. It took 50 minutes to sell the cars. All Neiman Marcus Edition cars have been painted in special colour Grigio Caldo with Cuoio Tuscano interior. Optional equipment of 95,000 USD resulted in the purchase price of 395,000 USD – including a trip to the Ferrari Winter Driving Experience in Aspen.
