We found ourselves –fitting well- within the Ferrari owner group called “Red on Tour” on a lawn close to the racetrack for the Historic Races. Striking was to see three F355, all in Giallo Modena.
It was obvious again, that the “real gems” are more locked away in the stable than shown in the fields. The “usual suspects “ have been present like #6463GT, the GTO Replica by Allegretti based on a 330 GT 2+2 and the 365 GTC #12063. 0536MD raced last year, but was chosen for the Concours this year and made it first in class. However, the Mondial was the only Prancing Horse participating.
The number of Ferraris present added up to 48 cars. It looks like this has become the level of Ferraris at Schloß Dyck. Compared with the very early editions the number of cars has doubled and tripled in the best case, but in 2007 only 6 cars have been classified being “modern”, in 2014 only 8 cars could be counted in to be “historics”– that’s how times have changed. Classic Ferraris are shown today at very few concours and historic races only, shows like Rétromobile or Techno Classica offer more of those today.
Back to the beauties or shall we say, to “the” beauty? Dyck saw to our knowledge the first public appearance of #22105 called the “Goldsmith-Ferrari” or the “365 GTB”. The car, freshly restored by expert Norbert Lahme, was born as a US-spec. Steel-model in July of 1977. David Paul Goldsmith modified the car with the assistance of Gordon Anderson with a V12-engine in the early 1980s. A manual of 150 pages was offered by Goldman for the prize of 100$. He soon lost interest in the car and in the 1990s the car was imported to Germany, planned to be race-converted. However, the car stayed with a collection and was observed in dissembled condition in 2010, still being livered in Rosso Corsa with Nero interior. Lahme restored the car and modified it slightly to give the car a more compliant impression. Today the car appears in modern Grigio Silverstone with Cuoio seats with Nero stripes. A full story about #22105 has been featured in German magazine Motor Klassik of February 2014 and pictures are sure to be found in our Slide Show, being available on Sunday together with all other 47 Ferraris of Schloß Dyck 2014.
